We love to help up-and-coming inspectors!

If you’re a home inspection student, new to the industry, or trying to become a home inspector in BC, connect with us. It can be difficult to find and earn quality hours towards your provincial requirement of 50 training hours. Although the Consumer Protection BC licensing requirement is 50 hours of training (coming from a minimum of 3 certified trainers), some associations require 75 or more hours. We recommend that you obtain at least 95 hours of training, which amounts to more than 25 home inspections. You should also try to get as much variety as possible within those 25+ inspections, to help yourself become familiar with different types of homes and systems from various decades.

Some people need more time than others in order to “get it”: There’s an important skillset of being able to identify conditions and defects, but you’ll also need to get your report writing up to speed and a refine your customer service and communication skills. Be prepared to complete 100 hours of training. Consumer Protection BC requires you to receive training from at least 3 different trainers, but it’s better if you can be trained by at least 5 different trainers to learn the different approaches and be better prepared to create your own inspection standards and routine.

Your school instructors may be able to help point you in the right direction for training, but you’ll probably need to do a bit of networking and meet some people on your own. Daylight Kelowna Home Inspections' Prokopios Klimos is a certified trainer through CPBC. He is well-connected in the industry and can help arrange hands-on training in Vancouver/Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island. After having trained and worked throughout the province and through working with dozens of trainers and inspectors, we’re happy to share our knowledge and experience.

The business, marketing and sales side of being a home inspector is something that’s not generally covered in most school programs and field training. If you want to learn more about how to run your inspection business you’ll have to do more than just read your textbooks and attend some group training.

Additionally, we can provide business coaching, marketing help and guide you through the steps of creating a successful home inspection business.

We love to give back to our community and support the inspection and real estate industries. We can provide 1-on-1 field training, group field training, as well as provide insight about training, schools, inspector exams, and associations. Contact us to start accumulating your training hours.
